He called his Granddaughter, the 2 and a half year old Reem, the “Soul of my Soul”. Reem was killed in November 2023, one month before her birthday on December 23rd by an Israeli airstrike.

Spirit of the Soul روح الروح
Spirit of the Soul روح الروح
Lyrics
I hear your voice and I see your pain
And in the dark I’ll speak your name
For every mountain climbed and stormy river tamed
This land is your home and here you’ll stay
سكتت رواح الدنيا هيك
لترجع الصوات الّي راحت
وتمسح الدموع الّي دامت بالعالم هون
راجعين أحرار الكون
that’s how the souls of the world became mute
so the voices that left would return
and wipe the tears of the world
the free people of the universe will return
For all souls that are left unseen,
falastin we will stand by your stand.
For all those who are silenced and grieved,
falastin we will stand by your side
وان صار الباطل حق، الذكرى غدوة تصير
الضو الي في القلب يعرف طريقو للخير
-Slam-iw i werraw Tegrawla
My greetings to children of revolution
-Am ass-a ad ezzi nnuba
One day, it will be your turn
-Leqrar uheqqar d ndama
One day, oppressor will be defeated
-Mi tlul tefsut att-kfu cetwa
When winter is over, spring is coming
For all souls that are left unseen,
falastin we will stand by your side.
For all those who are silenced and grieved,
falastin we will stand by your side.
You say you don’t know no more what’s fake and what’s real
Just put your hand on your chest and feel
Louder that the bombs and collapsing homes you can hear
The aching sound of children’s fear
Our ancestors are calling for us to heal
The wounds that led us here
falastin we will stand by your side.
I hear your voice and I see your pain
And in the dark I’ll speak your name
